Would you believe that identity theft is a huge concern in the U.S.A.. Unfortunately, there are over 9 million a year, costing our economy about $53 billion per year. Victims are on the hook for about $5,000,000 per year. It is time to start protecting yourself with an identity theft protection company. Companies like LifeLock, TrustedID and Debix set and renew your fraud alerts every 90 days. They all provide you with a three bureau credit report and remove you from pre-approved credit card offers and junk mail lists. Other then this there are many differences.
LifeLock has some additional services such as WalletLock, eRecon and TrueAddress. There are many LifeLock reviews all over the place but most do not include details about all these services. WalletLock replaces your ID in the event you lose your wallet or purse so you don’t have to spend your time filling out forms and making phone calls. eRecon scours illegal websites to insure that your private information is not being traded by criminals. eRecon scans for your credit card numbers, Social Security number and drivers license. TrueAddress scans databases to verify that your address hasn’t been changed to protect your mail from ending up in someone elses hands. LifeLock protects you with a $1,000,000 service guarantee.
TrustedID has a service called ID Freeze that scours illegal websites for your information such as bank and credit card numbers, social security number, name and address and prevents them from being sold illegally. TrustedId is the only identity theft company to give you medical protection and anti-spyware software. Like LifeLock they also have a $1,000,000 service guarantee.
Debix is unique due to there fraud alert system. Instead of placing your phone number in your credit file Debix places their number. When a creditor calls this number, it is rerouted automatically to your work, home and cell phone. You then have the opportunity to approve or disapprove the transaction. If you decline the application you will then be connected to licensed private investigator who can assist you with the fraudulent transaction. Debix also includes $25,000 of identity insurance. Debix has the lowest cost charging only $24 per year. A family protection plan is also available at a discount.
The only other thing to mention about these companies is that in the case of TrustedID and Debix they only assist you with restoring your identity and credit to pre-theft levels. LifeLock will restore your identity for you.
The best way to protect yourself and your hard earned money is by hiring an identity theft protection company. Which company you decide on matters little considering the reality that you need to start protecting your identity now.
