Self Help Yourself Towards Better Life?

Posted By Tim in The Mind Set

Are you like me tired of the screaming headlines talking about job losses, crashing of stocks, corrupt politics and the world coming to an end????

How do we deal with all of the fear and the dealings of our daily life without wanting to go back to bed and pull the covers over our heads. By going through some basic self help tips you will find you will be able to soothe your nerves and at least be more balanced.

When our brains are in overload fearing everything we just recently read it is important to find some happy juice. This means find some happy ground that you are standing on. O.K. 30,000 people just got laid off but you are not one of them.

Certainly your investments don’t look great but you are still able to catch up. Yes, you owe money on your credit cards but you are paying them and finding new ways to save money…etc. Somehow if we find a way to give ourselves some solid ground the fear stops rattling our heads.

Most of the fear that comes around is ‘turbo-boosted hype’. Bet you have also noticed that even when you have had the worst situation happened that you survived it!

Plus, did you notice that although your brain may have been racing miles ahead of you into much worst scenes…changes are good that not of them happened.

How do we do this???

It is funny how although we can always find joy we often find unhappiness. This is when it is important to find new ways everyday to find happiness almost like reducing your credit card debt or investing more money. You need to work on your financial self help.

Other ways that help us to get more happy juice into our lives:

-surround yourself with happy positive people
-get your finances in order
-take care of your body and mind
-decrease your amount of time listening to and reading the news.

Better yet stop altogether!
-keep things simple in your life and cut back on items that you are doing
-read self-improvement books to find ways to keep yourself positive.

We can choose to live a happy life by just improving our surroundings. What new path will you choose?

Get In On Online Bible Based Study

Posted By Tim in Skills

The study of the Bible is an exciting adventure. As someone who has spent the last 25 years engaged in studying and teaching the Bible, I thought I would share a brief list of tips to help others who also are engaged in Bible study. Of course there are many methods one can follow, but there are a few tools that will add to any method. I hope that the that the five following free online bible study tips will serve useful to you.

1. Choose An Online Bible
Due to the marvel of the internet, a student of the Bible can save hours in time that previously would have been spent in flipping pages searching for this text and that. There are many great sites that will allow a user to type in a Bible text and instantly have multiple translations of that text appear before their eyes. Try it out. Type in a bible text reference and watch your search engine go to work. In addition to multiple translations, many online bibles have a keyword search feature as well. When you don’t know the passage you want, you can type in a word related to the topic on your mind. Presto! Any bible passages related will appear. My favorite site is Bible Gateway. You can even get the free code and add their search tool to your own site.

2. Utilize A Topical Bible Resource

A topical index is basically a compilation of keyword searches already done for you. The most well known is most likely Nave’s Topical Bible. Just type it in your search engine and try it out. In a flash, you can get a ton of bible passages related to the subject you are studying.

3. Learn How to Use A Strong’s Concordance with Hebrew and Greek Lexicon

The Strong’s Concordance is a well known resource. Find an online bible that is keyed to Strong’s. It usually will be in the KJV of the Bible. The words in the text will have a mini number under or above the words of the text. Click on the number and the word will appear with a definition of the original Hebrew or Greek word given. This often will let a lot of light on understanding the meaning of the text you are studying.

4. Ask Questions of the Passage

Online or not, don’t leave your interrogation of the bible text undone. One of the most productive tools I have found to use regarding online bible study resource is to ask questions of the text. Try it—Who, What, When, Where, Why and How will unearth a lot of goodies for you to share with others. One person’s information will grant the answers to another person’s questions. Life’s greatest questions are answered in the Bible.

5. Glean from the Study of Others Who Offer Their Resources
One of the joys of my ministry is sharing my free sermon outlines online with others. Of course there are lots of good sites loaded with bible studies out there. Again, just ask your search engine and it will give you the goods.

Motivation - Are You Too Targeted

Posted By Tim in Problems

Focusing on your future goals is, usually a good thing. It’s good to have a clear sense of direction and targets. Even so, in certain scenarios, this can actually lead to de-motivation, the opposite effect to that which could usually be expected.

The problem can surface when you are tightly focused on your desired outcome and either not achieving it or, perhaps, not achieving it rapidly enough. When you are only thinking about what you want to happen in the future your brain will create explanations as to why this hasn’t taken place and isn’t happening.

In this situation it’s easy to think about past failures, earlier bad luck and even to start wondering if your perceived personal weaknesses are an influencing factor. You may become jealous of your competition, you may even start looking for excuses and then you’re on a downward spiral and you may lose self confidence. This might impact upon not only your current project but future plans.

At times such as this you need to break the destructive thought pattern by taking a little time to reflect upon your achievements and nurture your attitude of gratitude. Make a list of your earlier triumphs, your proven skills and think about the advantages that you already possess in comparison with others less fortunate. This will rapidly boost your confidence and put you in the right frame of mind to achieve your goals.

The key here is not to become self satisfied or complacent but to develop the belief and positive attitude you need to go forward and win. You are going to build upon your proven achievements as a platform to realise your future goals. You deserve to win.
