Get Engravable Cufflinks And Flasks And Rake On!

Posted By Tim in The Mind Set

Do you let your girlfriend pick up the tab each time you go out? Are you one who is vain about dressing? Does going out with only one woman at a time strike you as a sad waste of your talents and charms? Do you mooch off girlfriends, friends, co-workers, and strangers alike? If so, you fit everyone’s definition of a scum. Change this impression by reinventing yourself from despised lowlife to dashing freeloader. Remember, one man’s garbage is another’s treasure. If this century, they call men like you white trash, six centuries ago they gave you a glossier name - rake.

Rake was derived from the old English term ‘rakehell’ and was coined because of the belief that one could only find such a horrible person after combing through hell with a rake. In time, however, a rake came to be known as a noble sophisticate who drinks lavishly. Gentlemen wanted to become known as rakes because it gives them a slightly dangerous air, a bit of a reputation that makes all the ladies curious and even sends some swooning.

The typical English rake, however, has many advantages that you lack. He has a noble title, you don’t. He has an Oxford education, you never went to college. He has a small fortune, you used to live with your mom; now you live with your girlfriend. Clearly, you do not have the privileges the regular English rake is born with. What’s a rogue like you to do? If you don’t have it, fake it. Fake a look that says you are to the manor born and bred. Rakes are dandy dressers. What better way to look like the stylish gentleman than to sport engravable cufflinks? A cigarette case engraved with initials and a monogrammed lighter are good accessories, too. They will mark you as a man who can afford to have his things personalized according to his liking. Finish this stylish ensemble with engravable flasks - just be sure to choose the most expensive-looking hip flask from all those engravable flasks you got as personalized groomsmen gifts.

Now that you look the part, are you good to go? Not just yet. There is one other thing you need to do - develop an accent. If you can’t pull off an English accent, then settle for one that sounds exotic. This will up your presumed IQ a bit because everyone will assume you are born elsewhere, are well-traveled, and speak English because it’s one of the six other languages your aristocratic father insisted you learn. Now you are ready. Go, leave your poor girlfriend’s paycheck alone, and leech off the rich instead. Yes, you are a rotter. Yes, you are a scumbag. Go and rake on!

Organize Your Home Office Workspace: Essential Be Organized Information

Posted By Tim in Planning

Your home office workspace, like your home, should be well organized. Follow tips to get your started:

LAY OUT YOUR WORKSPACE

* Use “L” and “U” shaped desks for the most efficient workspaces;
* Store your gadgets and equipment — telephone, computer, etc. — on one “wing”;
* Leave the other wing free to spread out while you work;
* Have everything you need within arm’s reach;
* Place the telephone on the side of the desk opposite your writing hand. That way you can hold the telephone and take notes at the same time;
* Add a hutch for extra storage for books, supplies, and equipment; and
* Avoid cluttering your workspace by filing away personal items.

PUT ERGONOMICS TO WORK FOR YOU

* Pay particular attention to your body — aches and pains aren’t normal;
* Do not generally bend, squat, or stretch whilst at your workstation;
* Have your monitor at eye level — if not, raise your monitor;
* Place your wrists flat when typing or using the mouse. If not, use a keyboard tray or wrist rest when typing; and
* When sitting, your thighs must be parallel to the floor. Your calves need to be perpendicular to the floor with feet on the ground. If they are not, adjust your chair or bring in a footrest.

ORGANIZE YOUR SUPPLY STORAGE

* Do not hoard supplies at your desk;
* Keep only what you need right now at your workstation;
* Use a separate supply area for storing bulk amounts;
* Store away extras in labeled containers and group like items together for example writing utensils, clips, notepads, etc.;
* Place flat items (paper, sheet protectors, and folders) in stacking trays;
* Place drawer dividers in drawers to keep small items in order;
* Place envelopes and note cards in a small vertical rack; and
* Use bracket shelves above your desk for additional storage.

Follow these tips and advice and you’ll soon have a practical and efficient home office in which to work effectively and productively.

Cope With Organizing Your Life: Practical Self Help Guidance

Posted By Tim in Planning

Whenever it comes to balancing a family, including young children, a home and perhaps a career to boot, you have choices. If you find that your workload sometimes seems like it is just too much, take heart!

From an outside perspective, I would say that the secret to success in organizing is the ability to prioritize your various commitments, enlist the help of others, and not sweat the small stuff.

Do you feel overwhelmed? If you would like good time management skills, practice the COPE method.

COPE is an acronym for Capitalize, Organize, Prioritize, and Energize.

* Capitalize on the ability of every child to assist with household chores such as setting the table, clearing the dishes and vacuuming the floor. Train them very early to put away their toys and make their own beds. Put all of your perfectionist tendencies aside while the children are growing up. Do more with your children and less for your children. If you do all of this, you will be blessed.

* Organize your home to make it easier to find and store things. Large shelves or a huge toy chest and hangers placed where children can reach them are good examples. Keep things in see-through containers, hang an essential rack on the wall, keep storage bins on casters beneath the beds and then centrally locate a lost and found basket to stash items left lying around the house.

* Prioritize each of your tasks. You cannot do everything but you can do lots. Pick the most important activity and then concentrate on getting it done. If something falls through the cracks, let it be the laundry but not the family outing. Do what is really important, not simply the things that need to be done.

* Energize yourself by getting plenty of rest, eat all of the right foods and adhere to an exercise program. Being physically fit and mentally alert will allow you to handle those stressful situations, which always pop up. Choose a form of exercise that you enjoy that way you are more likely to stick with it. The best way to make sure that you eat a balanced diet is to plan ahead and work out a menu for the next 4 or 5 days. Make sure you eat lots of fruit and vegetables. And incorporate some relaxtaion techniques into your daily life. Do not do chores at the expense of sleep time. Let the house collapse all around you before you do.

Success Leaves A List Of Self Motivational Clues

Posted By Tim in Skills

When you decide to become truly self motivational you realise that attaining success is not a destination it is something within you. It is the self motivational attitude that you take to every facet of your life. Not just the major things but the every day simple things to. Success is not something you can reach out and grab onto, nail down then parade as some kind of trophy which some less than self motivational individuals have come to view it. Successful people don’t just attain success they live it on an ongoing basis. Many descriptions of success have it as a journey. However I am convinced it is more than a journey and is in actual fact a life style and indeed a self motivationallife style choice.

Success always leaves clues, here is a list of a number of the success clues you should look out for:

1 Being focused on worthy goals
2 self motivational enough to work towards them (not just looking for short cuts)
3 Striving for high standards but not weighed down in seeking perfection
4 Visualising the big picture while also focusing on the detail
5 Perseverance is the self motivational watchword
6 Weighing up the need for big step change with incremental improvement
7 Holding the gains in success not sliding back into old behaviours
8 Assisting others, particularly less fortunate than yourself, set and achieve their goals
9 Showing commitment to delivering on promises
10 Fundamentally aware that your goal is still there after the buffeting storms around you subside
11 Not surrendering control to others by getting uncontrollably angry
12 Seeing abuse and hate from others as a gift you choose to refuse to accept from them
13 Do not acknowledge failure and see it really as a learning experience
14 Establish alliances with those who will commit to helping you with your goals
15 Understanding that everyone has within them the resources to achieve their goals
16 Being clear that success is a self motivational choice you make not one that is made for you
17 Seeing money as merely a scorecard to the wealth you create in the world not success itself
18 Respect others and their definition of success even when you can’t agree with them
19 Living in the now and valuing every moment of every day
20 Seeing health as the great generator for a self motivational and successful life style

To be self motivational and live a success lifestyle you need to be a detective looking for clues. My list above is not meant to be comprehensive but merely a starting point to begin your quest. To get some further clues have a look at this self motivational booklist I compiled.

How To Spot Time Wasters: Essential Time Management Tips

Posted By Tim in Problems

We all know time is precious but, let’s examine the somewhat strange concept of ‘Time Killers’. There are a lot of time killers in this world and what you have to do is identify these time killers, look out for them and stay wary of them. Only then can you put your available time to the maximum possible use.

The killers that I am referring to are quite ordinary every day things that we see and use in our lives but often do not realize how much of our time they take away.

Some terrible Time Killers:
Telephone calls
Chatter boxes
Traffic jams
looiking for parking spaces
Meetings
Bad machinery
Long queues

The list could, of course, go on and on. But before we keep adding to the list, I would like to elaborate on certain of the items listed above.

How to handle Time Killers.
Telephone calls.
The funny thing about telephone calls is that these instruments are indeed great time savers. The problem arises when telephones are not used properly. Most people do not understand and even if they do they forget that telephones are not to be used for lengthy conversations. A fundamental of a telephone conversation is that it should be short.

Now coming to cell phones there is a lot to be said and done. Turn off your cell phone when you are having a conversation or a discussion with more than one person. Often we tend to give more importance to the caller than to the person we were having the discussion with. Again the same rule applies here. Be brief. A cell phone is to be used to get an important message across to someone who you were not able to reach on the land line.

The next point is about those chatter boxes. Steer clear of such people. Believe me, it is much easier to avoid such people than to tell them to shut up and if you get a telephone call from such a person, use a caller ID facility or ask your secretary to divert the call.

Traffic jams and finding parking spaces.
Any one who has lived in the city for at least a day will know what I am talking about. There is no getting past a traffic jam at the rush hour. And will someone tell me why it is called the rush hour when that is the time when the traffic is the slowest and rush hour seems to last two or three hours!
The only thing you can do is anticipate the traffic jam and leave your home a half hour or one hour early. But that does not really keep the time killer at bay. It just helps you to avoid being late. In this respect you have two options. Either you could find something constructive to do while you wait for the traffic to move along or the traffic light to change or a better option would be to take subway and walk the rest of the way. You can get a long a lot faster on your feet and it is a lot better for your health as well.
By doing so, you can also get rid of the headache of finding a parking space.

Not surprisingly lengthy meetings and discussions can prove to be awful time killers particularly if the meeting does not have a clear agenda and if there are people who love to talk among the group. It has been found that most middle and senior level mangers spend nearly 70% of their work time talking. And in most organizations, parleying has been turned into a fine art.

Bad machinery is a time waster. How many of us have wanted to sit and scream and bang the daylights out of a pc that does not give us the required data or information. A computer that takes a long time to start up, a photocopier that gives shamefully faint photocopies, even a leaky faucet or a stubborn drawer or door knob can waste a lot of time and send us up the wall. If you have such equipment or machinery, get it changed at the earliest possible date. It is worth the amount of time and energy that you waste on it every day.

Long queues certainly waste a lot of time. That does not mean that you have to jump the queue. If you can get the job done over the telephone or can reserve your ticket in advance, do it, even if it means a few extra dollars, it is worth the time you may have to spend waiting.

Apart from these each person may have particular time wasters, like for instance, a car that refuses to start in the morning, difficult hair that insists on looking like Medusas head on a bad snake day, an elevator that takes for ever to reach your floor. Use your common sense and try to find alternate methods or even better, if you cannot find an alternate method, you could put the time to some use like read your morning paper in the elevator.

How To Be An Achiever

Posted By Tim in The Mind Set

What does it take to become an expert? What is it that separates top achievers and the rest of the world? Is there a chancethat some people are just born with a silver spoon in the mouth and some are genetically predisposed to being average?

Of course, there are many things which can influence what we become in life, but one of the most important key factors is ‘hot desire’ to obtain whatever we have set our sights on. The resolute commitment will then drive us to take action. It will push us to lands unexplored , it will push us to uncover answers and keep perservering. And as we continue to try, one thing is certain; we will get there. For as long as we stay on course, improved results are guaranteed.

Consuming desire is the driving force of any goal. It transcends obstacles and sees way beyond problems. It is desire that inspires our actions and is the source of our faith. Abraham desired to be a father, that desire was so strong and gave him the strength to believe in what the Lord had promised. Abraham was not willing to give up his desire, he held on to it despite his age.

Whatever it is you want to bring into our reality, know that it is the power of your resolve that will bring your dreams to life. Regardless of how dark the prospects may be, if we stay and hold on tenaciously to our vision with unwavering faith, what we desire can be actualised. Success can be a reality in our lives.

Discover how to become prosperous by waking up to the power of commitment. You can be an expert, you can see your dream come to life, you can succeed, you can, you can, you can! Your resoluteness can mean the difference between being an expert or being unsuccessful. You can be be an achiever!
