If you consider yourself to be the kind of person who would be inclined to mysticism and the alignment of stars, then tarot reading is for you. So many people have already attempted to reveal their own destinies and get new perspectives on themselves through tarot and they often use that to better themselves. Tarot reading provides insight into oneself to be able to identify a whole different perspective or even multiple perspectives of themselves. These perspectives are taken from their past, present and even future. Indeed it can be very gratifying when you discover yourself like that. And for those who don’t know, tarot reading has been around for centuries and has been tested by time as a valid medium of insight. That is why, personal tarot reading can really be an extremely appealing activity. Even I have done quite a few readings myself and I get better at it every time with every session. Take a look at a few of the basics here in order for you to start reading your very own tarot.:
Getting to experience tarot readings, especially from the pros, will no doubt increase your ability to do it yourself right away. Just getting a general overview of how the whole things works and the vibes that go around with it would definitely get you on the right track faster than any first activity would. Whether you have tried one before or not, there are always tarot sites online that would give you ideas about astrology free of charge.
Buy your own Tarot deck. It will be quite difficult to proceed to read tarot without a tarot deck. That is the next step after you have gotten around to experiencing it from readings by actual readers The rest of it will really just follow. This first step, however, might be considered by some to be the most important yet. Getting comfortable with the very idea of reading your own tarot is very important. You have to not feel weird about it. And you might say a significant portion of this comfort lies in the vibes and connection you get with your own chosen tarot deck. You need to rely mostly on guts and vibes in choosing your own deck. Although, they mostly differ only on design and illustration, the single most popular deck of tarot cards in use today is the Rider-Waite deck which even has its own variations. Some decks also borrow artwork designs from early Renaissance. There are even some with designs that look so mesmerizing they’re almost hypnotic, or plain eerie depending on your perspective.
Know the basics in the card’s meaning. After getting your own deck, the next thing you’d want to do is to begin understanding what they mean. There are layers upon layers of possible meaning that you can derive from a spread at one time. Getting to understand which meaning it really tries to say is the real kicker. Again, this is not hardcore, at least at first, because the cards themselves show clues as to what they mean respectively. Their pictures show signs of their meanings. But be careful because this doesn’t mean that you’d automatically understand what they actually mean. Most of the cards are not as simple to interpret as simply looking at the pictures. This requires experience. Initially, getting information on all 78 cards on the deck might be intimidating but you’ll soon realize that there are pattens to them and it then becomes a breeze. Another way is for you to just understand their basic meaning a few cards at a time. If you do it this way, slowly but surely, you don’t confuse one with the other. In lieu of taking things slowly at this stage of your training, it would also be a good time to practice your meditation as well. This can go well with trying to familiarize (and even memorize eventually) yourself with the cards’ meanings. Meditation and generally clearing your mind of outside forces is very important in tarot reading as it will allow you to see and feel the signs quite clearly. The idea is to relax so you’ll be able to read and understand the spread a lot better and more accurately.
Understand the various tarot spreads. Once you have a pretty good grasp of what each of the cards mean, it would then be time to learn about tarot spreads. A spread is simply a pattern in which the cards are laid out on the table. Although it is a very basic thing to do, it has an extremely high impact on the how the reading will turn out. On the spread each position would have its own meaning and this usually involves the 3 different time perspectives: the past, the present and the future. Getting the whole meaning of the cards in a particular spread allows the reader to understand the subject and begin to have answers to their questions. The first thing to do, however, before doing the spread is to shuffle the cards. Now, shuffling the cards also has different styles to it but for now, a simple shuffle would suffice. Most tarot experts believe that this action is where the subject gets to touch the deck is also when the energy gets transferred to the tarot so its reading will become subject specific. This, in turn, allows the deck to understand the subject as an individual and effectively provide answers for them in particular. After shuffling the tarot deck, you can proceed to pull out the cards individually and begin the spread. The most common spread is called the Celtic Cross. It basically involves the cards positioned in a 6-card cross on the left side and a 4-card vertical line on the right side. The order in which the cards are laid out is found in the image below. The spread for you also depends on the type of issue that you want to deal with. For starters, you can start with the Celtic Cross spread as it is the most popular and it’s not too simple or complex which is perfect for beginners. But as you get more experienced, you are definitely encouraged to experiment with a tarot spread that suits your tarot reading style best.
It’s Card Reading Time. This is crunch time. At this point, you should have all the necessary skills to be able to successfully and finally read the spread, their positions and respective meanings of each position. Simply follow these steps and get the ball rolling.
There you have it. That is basic flow of tarot reading, getting you ready for your very own first step in becoming a tarot reader and go on to learn more and more about this wonderful medium in your own time. Learning it is both a personal as well as a communal activity. I would like to stress again that this is merely the basics of the process flow and adding your own unique style to it is not only allowed but strongly encouraged. The more you do it, the more comfortable you get and better able to read the tarot’s answers. Happy tarot reading folks!
